A Special Day for Some Special Mothers

This year’s Mother’s Day was special. The afternoon was spent with my bebes preparing a special dinner for some of the most important and lovely ladies in our lives – our mothers! Because we all happened to be in the Bay Area this year, we decided to celebrate and spend Mother’s Day together by  cooking for them and our families. Three years ago, our brothers actually got together and cooked for our moms; so, we decided that the girls would do it this year! It was such a blast cooking and serving with these girls (Jamie even serenaded us with worship songs in the kitchen while she cooked – she is already taken!).

AppetizerSalad
Side DishesSeasoned potatoes, Sauteed Haricot Verts, & Garlic bread
EntreeTri-tip
DessertFresh organic fruit salad & Tiramisu cake

The day was filled with many firsts and surprises, and I am so glad everything turned out so well! We even created our own trivia game, “How Well Do You Know These Mom?” While the questions tested how much these moms knew about each other, the questions were also devised to test the rest of us how well we knew each mom and our own moms. Even having known each other for over two decades now, let’s just say…everyone learned a lot that night! Questions included identifying favorite book/character/verse in the Bible, favorite color/animal/season/grocery store, birthdays, and so on. It was hilarious hearing everyone’s answer about each other…

Happy Mother’s Day! Thank you for letting us serve and show our small token of gratitude and love for you ladies!

LUV’in Me Some L’uvalla

I am loving the Foaming Facial Cleanser, L’uvalla so kindly sent to me! It is such a luxurious, yet affordable treat for my skin that goes beyond making me look and feel beautiful! The fact that it is certified 100% natural, certified organic, and certified sustainable by Europe’s esteemed Cosmebio, “the most stringent cosmetic certification in the world,” already won me over (click here to learn more about these certifications).  The “Cosmebio” might look and sound familiar if you have ever read my ”Organic Argan Oil Hype?” post because my Melvita’s Huile d’Argan is also certified Cosmebio!

The L’uvalla Foaming Facial Cleanser, which is great for normal/combo/oily skin, left my face feeling squeeky clean, smooth, and fresh. The cleanser contains ingredients such as Bilberry and Lotus Flower that “have antioxidant properties more powerful than vitamin C in fighting free radicals.” Not to mention, the aromatherapy essential oils that are included in here not only make my face smell heavenly, but makes me feel relaxed and re-energized! L’uvalla has truly provided a new and different experience to my skin care regime! For application, I picked up a natural sea sponge from Whole Foods to use with the cleanser. The sea sponge gave me a nice lather, which I massaged onto my face making circular motions to remove impurities, make-up, and dirt without drying my skin. Because there are no preservatives and chemicals, many of L’uvalla’s products, like this particular one, are packaged in glass bottles to preserve them.

Other results from the Foaming Facial Cleanser to look forward to?

  • Balance Sebum Production
  • Improve Skin Tone
  • Neutralize Free Radicals
  • Minimize Breakouts
  • Gentle Eye Make-up Remover
  • Provide Matte Finish

I had the opportunity to chat with Alla from L’uvalla, and I have never met anyone gleaming with so much beauty inside and out! Alla’s passion and vision for creating a skin care regime that is 100% natural and organic is exemplified in every step of the process, “From organic farming to fair trade sourcing to chemical-free production to recycled resources – [L'uvalla is] dedicated to ensuring that every step of the process has a big impact on the improvement of social and economic status and a minimal impact on our environment.” L’uvalla dedicates themselves in guaranteeing customers with a skincare collection that is combined with only the most pure and high quality ingredients, creating a skin care regime that is visibly and physically effective to everyone and anyone.

My verdict? Use products that not only work, but benefit and improve your well-being in the long run, products that are made with love and a vision that is dedicated to truth and integrity, and lastly, products that provide enduring and promising results. This is what I believe and what L’uvalla has to offer. It is time to stop harming yourself by using products that claim to be 100% “natural” or 100% “organic,” and to stop using products that are filled with toxins and chemicals that give you immediate but damaging results in the future.

Didn’t know washing my face can be so much fun! Yay, all clean and ready for bed. I can’t wait to try all L’uvalla’s other products!

Don’t forget to check out their website here! Join me and ”like” L’uvalla on Facebook  and “follow” them on Twitter!

Look out for my next post, I’ll be doing a little giveaway with L’uvalla!

WHAJ & EVANGELINA @The Getty

Can’t believe it’s been exactly one year since our apartment’s play-date at The Getty. When I look back at my college years at UCLA and feel start to feel nostalgic, I always find myself remembering the sweet times our apartments had together. Whether it was a brief “Yoohoo” in the hallway or through some random holes, coming to our apartment to use our kitchen (which we secretly hated…because it always looked like a bomb went off!), studyparties, eatingparties, or pillowtalks (… the list goes onnnn)…it has made me realized what a privilege it was to live in the same apartment complex for two years!

Here are some picture from apartment 204 and 214′s play-date at The Getty:

Thank you for spoiling us 214 girls with such brotherly love and care. Thank you for watching out for us, praying for us, taking the trash out for us, cooking for us, making us laugh, and being naive little boys who do not know what “shady” means. You guys were such a blessing; thank you Wes, Harry, Alex, & Jo for the sweet memories and sweet times of fellowship.

And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. ~Philippians 1:9-11

number four

4. Though God has forgiven and forgotten your past sins, yet don’t forget them yourself. Often remember what a wretched bond slave you were in the land of Egypt. Often bring to mind your particular acts of sin before conversion, as the blessed Apostled Paul is often mentioning his old blaspheming, persecuting, and injuriousness, to the renewed humbling of his heart and acknowledging that he was the least of the apostles, and not worth to be called an apostle, and the least of saints, and the chief of sinners. And be often in confessing your old sins to God. Also, let this following passage be in your mind: “Then, when I make atonement for all you have done, you will remember and be ashamed and never again open your mouth because of your humiliation, declares the sovereign LORD” (Ezek. 16:63) -Jonathan Edwards’s Advice to Young Converts

Essie’s Castaway

Essie’s “Castaway” is described as a soft rose petal pink, but I think it’s more like a barbie pink! So girly and pretty…I can’t decide whether I like it with or without sparkles! As you have probably noticed…I am in love with Essie, sparkles/bling, and pink.
